What Are EPDM Shims?

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is a high-performance synthetic rubber known for its superior resistance to heat, ozone, sunlight, and water.

EPDM shims are thin rubber spacers or gaskets that fill gaps, absorb vibration, and maintain alignment between machine parts, pipes, panels, or assemblies. Because of its elasticity and sealing strength, EPDM remains stable under compression and temperature fluctuations.

Common thicknesses range from 1/32” to ½”, but Oleumfield Tech can produce custom sizes, shapes, and thicknesses to match your specifications.

Weather and UV resistance

EPDM shims stand up to sunlight, ozone, and outdoor exposure without cracking or degrading — perfect for long-term outdoor or marine use.

Excellent flexibility and compression recovery

They maintain their shape and sealing ability under pressure, vibration, and temperature changes, ensuring consistent spacing and performance.

Water and chemical resistance

EPDM resists water, steam, mild acids, and alcohol-based fluids, making it ideal for plumbing, HVAC, and process equipment applications.

Noise and vibration dampening

The material’s elastic properties absorb mechanical shock and reduce vibration, helping protect equipment and improve operational stability.
